Acquity UPLC® system equipped with the 2996 PDA detection system (DAD detector) operating from 194 to 800 nm and LCT Premier XE mass spectrometer (TOF);
Waters, USA.

Acquity UPLC® system with DAD detector together with the LCT PremierTM XE Mass
Spectrometer represents powerful instrumentation for analysis of wide range of compounds at different concentration levels and in complex mixtures.

Acquity UPLC® system represents highly robust and reproducible chromatographic system that provides analyses in short times with low analyte and solvent consumption. The DAD detector allows detection and quantification of lower concentrations of analytes and comparison of spectra across wavelengths and broad concentration ranges.
LCT PremierTM XE Mass spectrometer is an orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight (oa-TOF) mass spectrometer that is characterized by high sensitivity, resolution, and exact mass measurements. In general, time-of-flight mass spectrometry is based on measurement of ions velocity (after acceleration by an electric field) that is dependent on ions mass-to-charge ratio <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass-to-charge_ratio>
High sensitivity of the LCT PremierTM XE instrument enables to achieve very low detection limits and the high linear dynamic range allows experiments to be carried out across a wide range of concentration levels. The high mass measurement accuracy (sub 3 ppm) is provided due to LockSpray TM technology that is based on the continual addition of reference material that does not interfere with analyzed compounds. High resolution is enabled by W-OpticsTM that doubled the unique path of the ions producing two-times improvement in resolution. The possibility of switching between positive/negative ionization modes during analysis enables faster method optimization and ionization of different components in single run.

These characteristics qualify the Acquity UPLC®-PDA system with LCT PremierTM XE Mass spectrometer for:
-fast and sensitive analyses of compounds across a range of molecular weights and concentration levels
-determination of analytes at very low concentrations
-identification of analytes in complex mixtures
-accurate elemental composition determination of unknown components
