“Infections and hematopoietic stem cells: how do they communicate?”
Infections are primarily cleared by immune cells in our bodies. However, we observed that the most immature hematopoietic stem cells also contribute to this process. In this lecture, we will report on the mechanisms that activate an hematopoietic stem cell during infection and the cellular adaptations that these cells undertake. Special attention will be given to the contribution of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway.
