Our study uncovers a key “gatekeeper” complex that ensures the molecular machinery starting DNA replication is properly assembled and regulated. When this control breaks down, replication becomes uncoordinated, leading to stress, genetic instability, and changes often seen in cancer cells. By revealing this hidden layer of replication control, our work opens new opportunities to understand how cells protect their genomes and how these mechanisms could be exploited in cancer therapy.
