“Investigating the Impact of Cullin-Dependent Degradation on Protein Homeostasis”
Cullin-dependent ligases (CRLs) regulate cellular homeostasis by targeting proteins for degradation. Mutations and alterations in the CRL substrate receptor FBXO38 have been linked to distal muscular atrophy, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and gender dysphoria. In our previous research, we demonstrated that FBXO38 controls centromeric chromatin density during spermatogenesis. We will present our progress in deciphering FBXO38 function, particularly in the context of protein homeostasis and ribosomal activity.
