„The impact of FAM84B in retinal homeostasis“
Fam84b is an incompletely characterised protein. Its aberrant expression has been associated with various human cancers, with a possible reported role in endosomal trafficking. We genetically ablated Fam84b expression in mice, and extensively characterised the subsequent age-related, degenerative phenotype in the retinas of knockout animals. The aim of the project is to explain how the lack of Fam84b unsettles retinal homeostasis and induces the presented phenotype.
