Pax6 is remarkably conserved across a wide range of species, from flies to humans, signifying its fundamental role in the regulatory network governing eye formation. In this presentation, we will delve into the functions of three pax6 genes – Pax6.1, Pax6.2, and Pax6.3 – and their specific contributions to eye development during the embryonic stages of the Japanese medaka fish (Oryzias latipes). We will explore how these genes orchestrate the complex process of eye formation, underscoring their importance in developmental biology and evolutionary studies.
